This style of Therapy is a therapeutic program that works hand in hand with The Emerging Church. I have 27 years of experience in Pastoring, Chaplaincy, Counselling and Coaching, and I’m currently completing a Master of Counselling.

For too long in our modern world we have held objective truth to be the answer, at the expense of what is going on on the inside of us. In our postmodern world we are moving away from objective truth and moving into areas of listening to the heart.

We have a world-wide epidemic in depression and mental health issues that seem to be increasing. Knowledge of the sciences and modern medicine has helped in many ways, but we are still trying to find our way forward. In this Therapy we take the approach that the way forward is about finding your true self and listening to the therapeutic method that best suites you.

Incongruency is about not fitting into the space you are given. Many people have been put into a space that is not suitable, and they are not connecting with their true self. This in itself is causing problems of pain and discomfort that they project onto others. They are struggling internally with cognitive dissonance (two opposing thoughts in the mind) and they are struggling to bring the two opposing thoughts together. People want a solution, but many search their whole lives before arriving at the place where they can find the answer.

This style of Therapy is a program that focuses on helping people find their way forward. This program starts with therapy and works towards being true to oneself. The client is given a holistic plan of attack that encourages self-reflection and regulation. The therapist builds a therapeutic relationship of trust with the client to help the client move forward.

The holistic approach starts with the inner core and spiritual side of the person, and looks at the God shape in the inner core of ones being.

Ecclesiastes 3:11 – ‘He has made everything beautiful in its own time, also he has put eternity in their heart, yet so that man does not find out what God has done from the beginning to the end’

Although we start with ‘eternity’, we do not put pressure on people to find this God shape. If the client doesn’t feel they have that place inside of them, we move onto finding the other parts of the person’s core that they may have lost in the process of life. This could be finding what you have lost about yourself as a result of what others have told you.
